Silvermoon was a Trakehner stallion by the famous Kostolany, same sire as Gribaldi. He was champion at his stallion licensing in Denmark before being imported to Germany. He fell into obscurity and was used as a race horse trainers hack for many years until his daughter Blue Hors Matine shot to fame at the World Equestrian Games in 2006. She is widely considered to be one of the best dressage horses the world has ever seen.

Throughout his life Silvermoon was rarely used. Grey is not a popular colour in Germany, their word for grey “schimmel” means “mouldy”. In spite of this he sired a stallion son, Cadeau who was Trakehner stallion of the year 2015 based on the success of his offspring including GP dressage mare Cote D’Azur.

Silvermoon has sired 3 international GP dressage horses, an Advanced eventer and a 1m60 GP show jumper. How many stallions can claim to have done the same?

Silvermoon, a truly outstanding stallion siring world class offspring.
